I very well may be the only one who randomly thought of the play Arsenic and Old Lace as I was sitting in class today. I don't know the source of my produced thoughts. I don't think I want to either.
So, if you ever randomly think of Arsenic and Old Lace, hit me up, and maybe we can ascertain our conceptions.

Thanksgiving Proclamations
Let us review the past Thanksgiving Day proclamations by William Bradford, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Bush, and Barack Obama.
William Bradford
William Bradford
Inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squashes, and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as he has protected us from the ravages of the savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience.
Now I, your magistrate, do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims, with your wives and ye little ones, do gather at ye meeting house, on ye hill, between the hours of 9 and 12 in the day time, on Thursday, November 29th, of the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and twenty-three and the third year since ye Pilgrims landed on ye Pilgrim Rock, there to listen to ye pastor and render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.
--William Bradford
Ye Governor of Ye Colony
George Washington
WHEREAS, It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor;
WHEREAS, Both the houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consiousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People.
I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States to be affixed.Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the Unites States the Eighty-eighth.

Thanksgiving is a time for families and friends to gather together and express gratitude for all that we have been given, the freedoms we enjoy, and the loved ones who enrich our lives. We recognize that all of these blessings, and life itself, come not from the hand of man but from Almighty God.
Every Thanksgiving, we remember the story of the Pilgrims who came to America in search of religious freedom and a better life. Having arrived in the New World, these early settlers gave thanks to the Author of Life for granting them safe passage to this abundant land and protecting them through a bitter winter. Our Nation's first President, George Washington, stated in the first Thanksgiving proclamation that "It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor." While in the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln revived the tradition of proclaiming a day of thanksgiving, asking God to heal our wounds and restore our country.
Today, as we look back on the beginnings of our democracy, Americans recall that we live in a land of many blessings where every person has the right to live, work, and worship in freedom. Our Nation is especially thankful for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who protect these rights while setting aside their own comfort and safety. Their courage keeps us free, their sacrifice makes us grateful, and their character makes us proud. Especially during the holidays, our whole country keeps them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
Americans are also mindful of the need to share our gifts with others, and our Nation is moved to compassionate action. We pay tribute to all caring citizens who reach out a helping hand and serve a cause larger than themselves.
On this day, let us all give thanks to God who blessed our Nation's first days and who blesses us today. May He continue to guide and watch over our families and our country always.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim November 27, 2008, as a National Day of Thanksgiving. I encourage all Americans to gather together in their homes and places of worship with family, friends, and loved ones to strengthen the ties that bind us and give thanks for the freedoms and many blessings we enjoy.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-first day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.
GEORGE W. BUSH
Barack Obama
On Thanksgiving Day, Americans everywhere gather with family and friends to recount the joys and blessings of the past year. This day is a time to take stock of the fortune we have known and the kindnesses we have shared, grateful for the God-given bounty that enriches our lives. As many pause to lend a hand to those in need, we are also reminded of the indelible spirit of compassion and mutual responsibility that has distinguished our Nation since its earliest days.
Many Thanksgivings have offered opportunities to celebrate community during times of hardship. When the Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony gave thanks for a bountiful harvest nearly four centuries ago, they enjoyed the fruits of their labor with the Wampanoag tribe – a people who had shared vital knowledge of the land in the difficult months before. When President George Washington marked our democracy's first Thanksgiving, he prayed to our Creator for peace, union, and plenty through the trials that would surely come. And when our Nation was torn by bitterness and civil war, President Abraham Lincoln reminded us that we were, at heart, one Nation, sharing a bond as Americans that could bend but would not break. Those expressions of unity still echo today, whether in the contributions that generations of Native Americans have made to our country, the Union our forebears fought so hard to preserve, or the providence that draws our families together this season.
As we reflect on our proud heritage, let us also give thanks to those who honor it by giving back. This Thanksgiving, thousands of our men and women in uniform will sit down for a meal far from their loved ones and the comforts of home. We honor their service and sacrifice. We also show our appreciation to Americans who are serving in their communities, ensuring their neighbors have a hot meal and a place to stay. Their actions reflect our age-old belief that we are our brothers' and sisters' keepers, and they affirm once more that we are a people who draw our deepest strength not from might or wealth, but from our bonds to each other.
On Thanksgiving Day, individuals from all walks of life come together to celebrate this most American tradition, grateful for the blessings of family, community, and country. Let us spend this day by lifting up those we love, mindful of the grace bestowed upon us by God and by all who have made our lives richer with their presence.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 22, 2012, as a National Day of Thanksgiving. I encourage the people of the United States to join together – whether in our homes, places of worship, community centers, or any place of fellowship for friends and neighbors – and give thanks for all we have received in the past year, express appreciation to those whose lives enrich our own, and share our bounty with others.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
George Washington

Simply Shoddy
"Sometimes you’ll find quite a shoddy building so well placed and painted that it quite takes the visitor in, and the critics as well – and all cluster round, crying, ‘Lo, a masterpiece!’ and award it prizes. But the passage of time, the peeling of paint, the very lack of concerned visitors, reveals it in the end for what it is: a house of no interest or significance.”

If I ever go into politics I'm gunna get a really monstrous tan, give out a shit ton of free stuff to people that there's a good chance don't deserves it or don't even belong here, make a lot of false promises and then never fulfill them, and finally to make myself more appealing ill run my personal debt up to around 20,000,000. Wow I think I have a pretty good chance of getting elected president
Woohoo! Four more years of increasing the national debt, increasing unemployment, and bull crap policies! You have spoken your ignorant words America. Have fun eating them.
Pray just pray. :(
What our nation needs right now is prayer.
Well, maybe we can hope the world really ends in 6 weeks. If not, in 4 more years, we will hope it had.
I don't know what to say. I now reject the ideas of what America has now come to be, and accept its former values. We have accepted unemployment of 7.9% as "good enough", and approve of the distribution of 14 million more food stamps over the next 4 years. We now accept government stimulus over lower taxes. We accept big business being ran off of government bailouts over small business that are created by entrepreneurs. We have fundamentally changed, and I reject it.
"Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage. "
I personally regret this decision by the American people to move toward bondage.
Well America you made your bed now you get to lie in it. Don't start complaining when you realize what you did.
America is screwed.
Well, this may be interesting to explain to the grandchildren....."They weren't thinking about ya'll, baby girl. Sorry about all the debt."
Why, America?
Great, another 4 years with a president I have no respect for with beliefs that I will never share. At this point in time I am NOT proud to be an American
2. the "never been more proud"
Once you go black, you never go back.
Barack and Roll!
Guys who wants to move to Canada? That way we can get more medical coverage!
Thank you, Ohio.
4 more years!!!! .... Let's get it!!!!
Glory to God in the highest! It's moments like this that I'm beyond proud to be an American!
3. the "I'm moving to [insert dream vacation location] for precisely 4 years; who's with me"
Alright Texas. Lets go back to being our own Country. #RedState #BooBlue
peace out america. i'm off to scotland.
Off to the beautiful beaches and mountains of New Zealand. Maybe I'll come back in 4 years...
4. the Bible verse or thankful one
At the end of the day, I ultimately take comfort in the fact that we have a perfect ruler in God himself. There is no greater thing.
Even when things don't go as hoped, I'm still blessed to be an American.
seriously, people are insinuating the rapture because their candidate didn't get elected? try having a little FAITH in Gods plan instead of assuming that we are in control in any way, shape, or form.

Thankful I live in a county where popular vote went to Romney. DUVVVVVVVAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!! !
In the midst of all this political intrigue and the upcoming future of our blessed nation, I cannot help but remember Romans 13:1-7.
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
5. the observer status about the types of statuses; they usually end the update with something unrelated
so over everyone's obnoxious political facebook posts. forreal.
I don't think I'm going to be visiting Facebook for a while... See ya.
All right. Now that all of this presidential nonsense is over with, lets focus on what really matters: how to fix the upcoming bacon shortage
My news feed currently has similar numbers of angry/depressed statuses, happy statuses, and funny, apathetic statuses, with only a few statuses about moving out of the US. It's nice to know I have such a healthy balance among my friends. I feel quite bipartisan. And very entertained.
Everyone's freaking out and I'm just sitting here like "I really want cake..."
Can't watch the election results anymore.. Too depressing. Sometimes I really do wonder... come on America, really?
YAY! No more annoying political ad campaigns!
My friends list on Facebook just got shorter. Am I apologetic? No.
Rough evening for survival of the fittest Facebook Edition
While trying to finish homework with one eye and to watch the elections results dribble in with the other, the question I'm most intrigued by is how many dead people will mysteriously cast a ballot this year? Nothing like fraud on a Tuesday night.....
6. the curve ball, props to you
Chill out, my Republican friends. The world will not go to crap just because Obama won. His unpopular policies will just fuel Republican candidates taking back the Senate in 2014 and the presidency in 2016. Although, I am sad that his policies will lead to thousands of more abortions compared to a Romney presidency.
Meanwhile, with practically evenly split House, Senate, and American population, with both sides experts in whining, we seem to still think it's the leader that's the problem? Hm.
The results of the election aside, I'm proud to be a female voter - an achievement in itself. Here's to many more opportunities to carry that title.
I think it would be cool if it was so close, the House of Reps got to choose our next POTUS. Hasn't happened in about 188 years, but it would be cool.
Democracy had a liberal bias.
Very humbling participating in my first election. Nothing like remembering regardless of gender, upbringing, sexual orientation or political affiliation we all have an equal vote. Too many people don't have that privilege in the rest of the world.

"do everything without complaining or arguing" - phil 2:14
what a challenge! are we checking ourselves in this season? pray for our president. he needs our prayers--he's got a big job ahead

"the short" theory
This post is about my theory titled "the short" theory which is in correlation with the homogeneity of sorority girls. Now, I do not imply that my theory applies to all, but for the majority, I would say that it trumps the few who do not participate, canceling out their non-participation. I also do not wish for this theory to hold a negative connotation of any sort, for I am merely expressing an observation, one of which I believe you are able to testify as one you've had yourself.
My "short" theory is that a majority of sorority girls are short.
Leggings, boots, and a semi-long t-shirt. The phenomenon always seems to be rampant this time of year. You know who you are. Even I am guilty of attempting this seemingly sporty and semi-scandalous endeavor. I am all about anti-pants, so this pant-free endeavor speaks to my soul on many levels. But let's be real, my long legs don't exactly pull it off - thus, "the short" theory.
I cannot pull off this pant-freeness because I am tall. No over-sized t-shirt could ever compensate for this unfortunate circumstance of being tall. It just does not work.
Have you ever seen a tall girl with this t-shirt and legging combo? If you have, you've probably thought about how odd she appears. It just doesn't quite work.
Have you ever seen a short girl with this combo? Yes, many.
Are they sorority girls? Yes, all of them.
Thus, a majority of sorority girls are short.
My "short" theory contains many holes. Please dispute. Offer a remedy to the tall ones; console us. Defend yourself if you are guilty. And please indicate if you are in a sorority and are of a height less than 5'9."
Do I hear monogrammed leggings?....
